Carlson is available for Book Signings and Programs – live or via Zoom

Program I
The True Tale of the
Pilgrims’ Adventures – For Our Children

Ages 6-12

Enjoy the true tale of the Pilgrims’ adventures in 1620-1621 based on Governor William Bradford’s Journal and told by the famous Mayflower Mouse. Meet some of the characters from the story in costume, examine primary documents, listen to colonial music, and read aloud a chapter from Carlson’s “The Adventures of Plimoth Plantation As Told by the Mayflower Mouse.” This program delights young and old with a fanciful, yet full-of-facts account of the Mayflower journey, the settlement of Plimoth, and the First Thanksgiving. Also included in Zoom performances: the accompanying Mayflower Mouse video.

“Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.”
-Socrates

Program II
Celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Pilgrims’ First Thanksgiving! Things to know about the Pilgrims’ journey.
4th grade and up

Come aboard the Mayflower with the Pilgrims and ponder SIX ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: Who am I? What is my goal? When am I going on my journey? Where am I going? Why am I on this journey? How am I going to reach my goals? Compare your answers with the Pilgrims’ answers. With our Forefathers’ example, think about your true identity and values in a complex, ever-changing world. Enjoy a short video about the facsimile of William Bradford’s Journal, “Of Plimoth Plantation,” from the Massachusetts State House Library. Learn top tips and get started on your journal writing.

“What could not sustaine them but ye spirit of God and his grace?”
-Governor William Bradford

Program III
The Voice Heard ‘Round the World! The John and Abigail Adams Story
Ages 10 and up

Embark on an amazing adventure with one of our First Families, John and Abigail Adams. How did they help start the American Revolution, fight for the Declaration of Independence, establish the American Republic, and much more, while homeschooling four children? Why are John and Abigail relevant to students today? Discover how their qualities of perseverance, courage, faith, and love made them not only historic heroes, but shining examples worldwide today. Their personal letters will highlight the Adams’s fascinating tale. The story is brought to life with original music by the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and narration by David McCullough in the History Through Music program.

“Let us dare to read, think, speak, and write.”
-John Adams
